Job Details
Main Tasks :
Required to represent our client at the Xdock warehouse where product assembly and test operations are conducted. Member of a team of engineers responsible for the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of a manufacturing process to kit, assemble, test and pack desktop & rack mountable servers. Manufacturing operations engineering is responsible for producing a repeatable system level manufacturing process for data center servers. Some specific requirements and parameters for the mfg process will be defined by a product engineering organization with the role of the engineer and team to implement these requirements.
* Develop, maintain and improve a manufacturing process for a data center product family.
* Work with product engineering in developing a process to qualify new hardware components for factory production readiness.
* Demonstrate a solid understanding of manufacturing engineering processes and tools such as:-
o Shop floor systems
o Bills of Material (BOM) creation and control
o Process documentation
o Change management
o Process improvement
o Lean Manufacturing
o Six Sigma
* Provide engineering support to the manufacturing floor when issues arise in the system test process.
* Responsible for creation, management and analysis of process performance metrics such as cycle time and driving process improvements to maximize performance on system velocity through the process
* Design of fixturing to aid the assembly process
* Procurement of parts, fixtures or other capital equipment to assist manufacture
* Management of budgets
* Provide timely and effective communications to manufacturing technicians on issues, their root cause, and resolution.
* Provide occasional phone support on weekends.
Marginal Functions:
* Document the mfg process and associated tools.
* Documentation is used both for ISO compliance and as a reference by manufacturing technicians.
* Develop and provide training for technicians on tools/processes created by manufacturing engineering.
Requirements :
* Lean Manufacturing knowledge
* Six Sigma
* 5S
* Process development and improvement methodologies and tools (Pugh Matrix / Fishbone / FMEA etc)
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Experience managing projects and coordinating efforts across functions.
* Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
5 years or equivalent in a high volume manufacturing environment preferably computer manufacture
MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION:
BS / BSc
FIELD OF STUDY:
Manufacturing Engineering / Process Engineering or demonstrated relevant experience
